Royal Arch Masonry is the first order a Master Mason joins within the York Rite. The Chapter confers several degrees, each with its own significance. The Mark Master Mason Degree extends the Fellow Craft (second) degree, adding further depth and meaning. The Past Master (Virtual) Degree is conferred due to the traditional rule that only Past Masters of a Blue Lodge may be admitted to the Holy Royal Arch. To manage the high number of applicants, the Virtual Past Master degree qualifies them for this admission, a practice unique to the USA. The Most Excellent Master Degree celebrates the completion of King Solomon’s Temple, a structure central to the Blue Lodge. Finally, the Royal Arch Mason Degree is often regarded as the most beautiful degree in all of Freemasonry.

What is the Royal Arch?

Keystone

The keystone is that which gives strength and durability to the arch; so that which imparts to Royal Arch Masonry its vitality and perpetuity may be properly termed its keystone. It is in the traditions upon which an institution is founded and the principles it is intended to inculcate that will be found the elements of its strength and perpetuity.
